Moscow Domodedovo International Airport

There are several airports around the Russian capital. Until recently Sheremetyevo was the most important airport, but meanwhile that role has been taken over by Domodedovo International Airport, this airport is 35 kilometers south of Moscow and is growing fast. Originally this airport was especially used for domestic flights. Domodedovo Airport has been privatized since 1996 and the number of international flights has grown greatly. In 2005, 14 million travelers used Domodedovo, including a large number of international travelers (more than at Sheremetyevo). Many well established airline companies have had their flights moved from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo.

In the coming years the existing Terminals T1 and T2 will be expanded and two terminals will come, T3 and T4, then the airport will be able to process 35 million passengers.
